Saturday 12th April

We drove into Lucca to the markets this morning and purchased some towels and a blanket hopefully that would fit the bed. We also enjoyed our usual espressos, doing it the Italian way and standing at the counter. The coffee here especially the espresso’s, are delicious and its fun to enter various bars and watch the locals down there coffee like a shot and go. It is also the only place you can find a toilet, public ones just don’t seem to exist. So when Charlotte needs a toilet or if we do, we know to just head to a local caffe bar down an espresso then ask for the nearest gabinetto (toilet). The Italians don’t always have a separate toilet for male and female so you line up with the boys and wait for the one and only loo on the premise and pray they have one that flushes, has loo paper or even has a tap that works!!!
